Off to California!
We're in the Bay area for the holidays! California is a mix of cold and warm and sunny. Sunday was a shopping/family/Gay 90s pizza night. (Pizza so good, it'll turn you ...) Monday was a day in Berkeley. I'd wanted to take the Scharffen Berger Chocolate Maker factory store tour, but it was already fully booked. After getting lost for a while, Rich and I settled on having lunch in the cafe there. We headed up to Salano Ave. to window show, while we waited for Daniel and Massie to meet us for dinner. We hit the Sunset Special at Albany Bistro. The Sunset Special is an incredible deal with a 3 course meal for $14. I had a Mango Mojito which was quite yummy. Their brunch menu is also a great deal. Everything is around $8, and you can add a mimosa for $1.50. The prices are much less than brunch in DC where everything was $15 or more.
Tuesday was San Francisco Day. I met up with Katy, who was there visiting Ethan. We hit the Haight for more window shopping and Ethiopian food for lunch. (I knew I'd work that in sometime!) Katy and I headed to the San Francisco Shopper Center on Powell St and spent a lot of time looking around and not buying anything. I think it's funny that the Apple Store there has become a place where people go to use the Internet, and that the employees have to spend a good part of their day shooing away the casual users so people can actually shop for Apple merchandise.
Rich and Ethan met up with us in Macy's and we headed back to the apartment to have dinner at the Citrus Club. We were all originally going to hit a concert at the Make Out Room, but we were all too tired, and watched Scrubs and Law and Order: SVU instead. Fun was had by all.
